H.E. Mr. Louis-Paul Motaze

H.E. Mr. Louis-Paul Motaze is the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development of the Republic of Cameroon. He has held this position since October 2nd, 2015.

In parallel he is the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Hydro Mekin dam and Chairperson of the Steering and Monitoring Committee for the project to build and develop the industrial port complex of Kribi. Finally, he is the present Governor of the World Bank and the African Development Bank for Cameroon.

Minister MOTAZE has held several positions of responsibility before his current office. He was the Secretary General at the Prime Minister's office from 2011-2015. Prior to this and from 2007-2011, he was the then appointed Minister of Economy, Planning, and Regional Development. From 1999-2007, he was the Director-General of the National Social Insurance Fund (CNPS). He has also been at the helm of top management positions at State-owned enterprises: the Cameroon Airlines (CA) company as Technical Adviser to the Directorate-General from 1998 to 1999, Director of the Audit and Management Control from 1993 to 1998; and Cameroon Shipping line (CS) company as Commercial Director from 1989 to 1993. Earlier, he served at the Economic Affairs Division of the Presidency of the Republic of Cameroon.

Minister MOTAZE has earned several honors, namely: Knight of the National Order of Valor, Officer of the National Valor, Commander of the National Order of Valor, Grand officer of the National Order of Valor and recently earned the Italian Grand Officer Honors; a recognition from the Italian Government of his dedication and handwork to foster Cooperation development.

He is the author of "Africa and the challenge of extending social security; the case of Cameroon." (Translated from the French; l'Afrique et le défi de l'extension de la securite sociale; l'exemple du Cameroun). He is equally the brain behind the Government’s development strategy document known as the "Growth and Employment Strategy Paper (GESP)."

Mr. Motaze Louis Paul is a Senior Civil Administrator graduated in 1983 from Cameroon’s professional elite institution; the National School of Administration and Magistracy (known by its French acronym as ENAM) and specialized on Economy & Finance. Subsequently, he continued his studies at Le Havre in France (Port Institute of Education and Research), where he received a Master of Advanced Studies in International Transport in 1985.

He is married, a husband to one wife and father to three loving children.
